Matsudaira Nagamaru (松平 長丸) was born a mere seven minutes after his twin sister Sayomi, and from there developed a reliable pattern. He and his sister don't share many interests beyond family and tradition and their love for one another; they have never been so attached that a brief separation becomes painful; their mother, mercifully, never dresses them in matching kimonos on holidays; and their fraternal nature keeps them from playing bait-and-switch pranks on their tutors. But where Sayomi, with all her flair for thrills, ventures full-speed ahead into precarious situations, Nagamaru protectively follows soon after — usually with a book and his headphones in hand for when he ascertains she's in no danger. Don't get him wrong, he likes adventure, too; he's always chasing after creative and intellectual challenges. His favorite authors change monthly, his favorite poets just as often, and where most kids his age wrinkle their noses at traditional Japanese literature, Nagamaru relishes it. He covers his books and his walls in colorful Post-Its full of scrawled notes only he could decipher; his music theory books, while treasured, are worn soft and crinkled at the edges; there are rolls of unfinished music sheets sticking out of his pockets. He wants to know anything and everything, and he has the time to learn it. He's just been accepted to Tokyo Geijutsu Daigaku.

He is also a vampire.
